3 Reasons Why Bathroom Design Should Be Prioritised In New Builds
One of the rooms we talk about the least seems to be the bathroom, but oddly, it is probably the room in the home that gets the most traffic! Now that you are in the process of working with a builder, architect or interior designer on that new build you’ve just contracted, keep this in mind because bathroom design really should be prioritised. Consider the following three reasons why this is.
Utility
Think about this for just a moment. Not only are bathrooms used by family, but visitors will often ask for the washroom before and/or after meals. Therefore, utility is a major consideration. Although you may have a private bath off the master bedroom, the central bathroom should have the perfect balance of form and function. New build bathrooms in Bedfordshire, for example, can actually be a showcase, adding a bit of luxury to the home. Pedestal basins, copper tubs and luxurious tiled walk-in showers are just a few examples of how the beauty of form meets the utility of function. Dimmable lights make a huge impression as well.
Multi-Use Room
This brings us to the next area that is also important when designing a bathroom. If you stop to think about how it is used many times an hour throughout the average day, you will see just how many reasons people visit that one multi-use room. They obviously answer the call of nature there, but they also wash their hands, comb their hair, touch up their makeup, shower, bath, dress and undress, and the list goes on. Even mum loves to sit for a leisurely hot bath in mineral salts in that healthful copper tub after a long day at work or dealing with the kids. There is nothing quite as stress-relieving as a warm bath.
The Most Private Room You Have!
The bathroom is also a place where anyone can get the greatest amount of privacy. Think about it for just a moment. You’ve had a long and stressful day, like mum mentioned above, and you just want a break from it all, even if only for a few minutes sitting in a warm tub. Most people would leave you be in the bathroom. Kids will come pouncing in your room if you’re hidden away in there and no one is ever reluctant to walk in on you because this is not where you will usually be dressing or undressing. That’s what the walk-in wardrobes and trendy bathrooms with well-lit mirrors are for. But the bathroom is a room where we learn to give people privacy from the time we are toddlers.
With all that being said, do take the time to plan out a spectacular trendy bathroom that will be the one room most guests will see, other than the common areas where they are seated on a visit. While you want everything to function as expected, you also want to add a bit of luxury to the home because life demands it of you. Showcase your common areas, by all means, but don’t forget the bathroom will get a fair amount of traffic as well.
