Importance Of Stem Cell Therapy
Stem cell therapy is generally referred to the use of stem cells that are totipotent in nature in order to prevent a certain disease or condition. The term bone marrow transplant is widely used these days but there are some techniques that employ the use of umbilical cord blood in order to generate new healthier cells. However, the research is being done to develop the different sources for stem cells and use them in treatment of neurodegenerative diseases and other conditions such as diabetes and heart disease. Stem cell therapy in India is undertaken in order to save the patients from such life threatening problems.
Although, the usage of stem cells has been controversial in later days as it marred the natural creation of God but since it fosters technological as well as biological development, it is considered to be legal and the best treatment these days. The controversy also related this to abortions and human cloning. The storage of umbilical cord have also been controversial in the earlier days.
Stem cell treatment in India has been used since times immemorial in order to treat the fatal disease cancer. Various cancers like leukemia and lymphoma are being treated with its help. When chemotherapy sessions are undergone, many cells keep growing inside the body which are killed by the cytotoxic agents. The agents however don’t have the capability to distinguish between the leukemia or neoplastic cells and the haemopoetic cells within the bone marrow. The cells are destroyed during the treatment and thus new cells are needed by the body.
The stem cells in the form of bone marrow are transplanted into the patient’s body. This again makes the patient healthy and generates immune response. The stem cells have this ability that they can easily differentiate into other cell types. There are two important characteristic features of stem cells which are the ability to renew themselves and the ability to gain the function and shape of other specialized cells. Also, two kinds of stem cells are available in the body which are pluripotent means they can become any kind of cell in the body and the multipotent cells that are restricted to become other kinds of cells that are limited in number.
These cells can be used for the the process of regenerating and repairing inside the body and they possess the ability for the repair of cells in future also.. The cells must possess the capability of self renovation in order to produce an offspring which as as same as the parent cells. This trait is also evident in the cancerous cells that divide uncontrollably and it is very important to note the other needs of the stem cells. The deadliest diseases so far are being treated with the help of stem cells only. These cells owe the power to reform the new functioning cells of the body. Hence, these can be easily made to function inside the body. They have pluripotent nature and hence can be easily differentiated into other cell types also.
